SereneQ Ipamorelin

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide and selective agonist of the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a). It was developed in the 1990s specifically to stimulate growth hormone release with high selectivity — the goal was to find a GH secretagogue that would produce a clean GH pulse without the cortisol, prolactin and ACTH elevations seen with earlier compounds like GHRP-6. In preclinical and early clinical work it largely achieved that: at doses studied in humans and animals, it stimulated significant GH release without meaningful changes to cortisol or prolactin.

What the research covers

Ipamorelin stimulates GH release from somatotrophs in the anterior pituitary through a mechanism that is complementary to GHRH (growth hormone-releasing hormone). GHRH increases cAMP in somatotrophs; ghrelin receptor agonists work through a calcium mobilisation pathway. This is why the two classes are often studied together — combining a GHRH analogue (like CJC-1295 No DAC or Sermorelin) with a GHS (like Ipamorelin) produces a synergistic GH pulse. Research has covered GH pulse amplitude, IGF-1 levels, body composition, bone density and sleep architecture. Its appetite stimulation is significantly less than GHRP-6, which is another reason it is widely used as a research model.

Where the evidence sits

Clinical data on ipamorelin is limited — most published work is animal or early-phase human pharmacology. It does not hold a medicines licence. Supplied strictly as a laboratory research chemical.
