Description
SereneQ LL-37
LL-37 is a 37-amino acid peptide that is the sole human cathelicidin — a family of antimicrobial peptides produced as part of the innate immune system. It is generated by proteolytic cleavage of the precursor protein hCAP-18, which is stored in neutrophil granules and secreted by epithelial cells at barrier sites including skin, lungs, gut and urogenital tract. The name comes from the two leucine residues at the N-terminus and the 37-amino acid length. It is released in large quantities at infection and injury sites as part of the immediate innate immune response.
What the research covers
LL-37 has a broad research profile. Its antimicrobial activity covers bacteria (including drug-resistant strains), viruses, fungi and parasites — it disrupts microbial membranes through its amphipathic helix structure, a mechanism distinct from conventional antibiotics. Separately, it acts as an immunomodulator: it binds to Toll-like receptors and their ligands, modulating the inflammatory response, and it has chemoattractant activity for neutrophils, monocytes and T cells. In wound healing research it stimulates keratinocyte and endothelial cell migration and angiogenesis. There is also a body of work on its roles in autoimmune conditions where it may trigger self-recognition, and its dual role in cancer — pro-tumourigenic in some contexts, antitumour in others.
Where the evidence sits
Extensive in vitro and animal data. Human studies are mostly observational (measuring endogenous LL-37) or small trials of topical formulations. No systemic human trial data for injected LL-37. Supplied strictly as a laboratory research chemical.
The pen format
This is where SereneQ does things differently. Instead of lyophilised vials that need reconstituting and drawing up separately, the compound arrives pre-loaded in solution in a graduated injection pen with a dial and a dose window.
- LL-37 (human cathelicidin) in pre-loaded solution
- Graduated dial with dose window
- 300 units total per pen
- 4 × sealed pen tips, 32G 0.23 × 4mm
- Batch number, expiry and serial printed directly on the pen barrel
Handling and storage
- Store refrigerated at 2–8°C. Do not freeze.
- Keep in the outer carton, away from direct light.
- Short periods at room temperature during transit are expected and normal.
- Use a fresh sealed tip for each dispense. Dispose of tips in a sharps container.
- Expiry 12/2027 on sealed, correctly stored stock.
- Keep out of reach of children and animals.
