Description
SereneQ GHK-Cu
GHK-Cu is a copper-binding tripeptide — glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine complexed with a copper(II) ion. It occurs naturally in human plasma, saliva and urine at concentrations that decline measurably with age: roughly 200ng/ml in a 20-year-old, falling to around 80ng/ml by 60. That observation, made by Loren Pickart in the 1970s, is what started the research programme. The tripeptide acts as a copper carrier, delivering the ion to cells in a form they can take up — copper being a cofactor for enzymes involved in collagen crosslinking, antioxidant defence and connective tissue formation.
What the research covers
GHK-Cu has been studied in three broad areas. In fibroblast and wound healing research, it has been shown to stimulate the synthesis of collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans, and to modulate matrix metalloproteinases — the enzymes that break down connective tissue. In skin research (including a significant body of work from the cosmetic industry), topical application has been examined for effects on skin thickness, elasticity and photoageing. In gene expression studies, Pickart’s group identified modulation of more than 4,000 human genes, with clusters relevant to antioxidant pathways, DNA repair and anti-inflammatory signalling — though this work is preliminary and in vitro.
Where the evidence sits
The fibroblast and wound healing work is largely in vitro and animal. Topical skin studies have included some small human trials in the cosmetic literature, but these are not large controlled trials. Gene expression data is preliminary. GHK-Cu is not licensed as a medicine anywhere. Supplied strictly as a laboratory research chemical.
The pen format
This is where SereneQ does things differently. Instead of lyophilised vials that need reconstituting and drawing up separately, the compound arrives pre-loaded in solution in a graduated injection pen with a dial and a dose window.
- 52.68mg GHK-Cu total in 3ml (105% of 50mg label claim — batch tested)
- 17.56mg/ml · approx 175mcg per unit
- Graduated dial with dose window
- 300 units total per pen
- The solution may carry a blue tint. That is the copper complex and is entirely normal.
- 4 × sealed pen tips, 32G 0.23 × 4mm
- Batch number, expiry and serial printed directly on the pen barrel
Handling and storage
- Store refrigerated at 2–8°C. Do not freeze.
- Keep in the outer carton, away from direct light.
- Short periods at room temperature during transit are expected and normal.
- Use a fresh sealed tip for each dispense. Dispose of tips in a sharps container.
- Expiry 12/2027 on sealed, correctly stored stock.
- Keep out of reach of children and animals.
What is in the box
